Dr. Richard Seidel has been working with Dr. Doug Lisle and Esteem Dynamics since 2003. He isthe Director of Behavioral Medicine for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia, and prior to that was the Director of Research for the Department. He is also an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.
Dr. Seidel earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from theUniversity of Virginia, and then completed his pre-doctoral internship at the VA MedicalCenter in Palo Alto, CA. He spent the subsequent year in a postdoctoral fellowship insubstance abuse at the same facility, and served as the coordinator of the PTSD/Alcohol Program at the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in Menlo Park, CA.
In 2008, Dr. Seidel received the Distinguished Service Award from the Society of Behavioral Medicine following completion of his term on the Board of Directors and Chair of the Scientific and Professional Liaison Council.
Dr. Seidel’s clinical interests include treatment for depression, anxiety, stress, marital problems, and behavioral management of health problems. His research interests are nutrition and health, integrated primary care, chronic disease self-management, and communication skills training.
His spare time is dedicated to his wife and son, and to broadcasting sports on radio and television.
